Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the answers!

Who can make calls with the discount prefixes?

Anyone who has a landline connection or digital TRAC (by Telefónica) can make calls with UK TELECOM. The connection operated by Telefónica remains in place; you retain your current telephone number and continue to pay the base rental fee for your landline connection to Telefónica.

Are there notice periods imposed by UK TELECOM?

No - at UK TELECOM, no such notice periods apply.
You can cancel your connection at any time. Just send us a fax, an e-mail or a letter indicating your telephone number or subscribership number, the day on which your connection should be discontinued, and your new address.

It is important to also specify the latest date by which we can charge the last bill amount to your account.

I will soon be moving – what must I do?

If you are moving, please notify us by e-mail, fax or post of the date upon which you are moving, your new address and if applicable, your new bank data. If you wish to retain your current phone number, the discount prefixes will remain connected. If Telefónica issues you with a new telephone number, you can notify us of the new number by phone, e-mail, fax or post.

How is the bill issued?
  • The billing currency is the Euro.
  • Billing of calls to the nearest second from the first second.
  • The billing period comprises the entire month, from the first to the last day of the month.
  • Bill amounts of less than 2.99 EUR will not be charged to your account for the current month, but will be included on the next bill.
  • You have the option to receive your bill by e-mail or by post.
  • You will receive your bill with a detailed listing of individual calls which indicates where, when and to whom you made the call.
  • You have the option to receive your bill in English, German, Spanish, Dutch or Russian.
  • If you do not make calls for a period of several months with our discount prefixes, you will not receive a bill; this does not result in an additional charge to you. Of course, you will remain a subscriber to UK TELECOM even during your absence. As long as we do not receive a cancellation notice, you can use our discount prefixes again at any time.
  • If in the course of a month, you make calls at a total cost of less than 10 Euro, we will charge these costs to the next bill. However, after two months, you will always receive a detailed phone bill.

How long does it take to connect my number to utilise the discount prefixes, and how will I know that this has taken effect?

It takes approx. 1-2 business days to connect the discount prefixes 1052 and 1051.

As soon as it is connected to our service, we will inform you by phone and in writing.

WHOM CAN I CONTACT?

Here, you will get answers to the most frequently asked questions. Please give us a call if you are unsure of something and you need further information. Our hotline: 971 581 828.

For technical assistance – particularly for questions on ADSL, please call 807 317 317.

Both numbers are staffed Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm, in July and August on Fridays until 1pm.

How do I make calls with the discount prefix?

For calls to e.g. a landline connection in London, just dial the discount prefix 1052 + 0044 etc. and the connection is then made with our affordable reduced rate.

For all calls to mobile telephones (i.e., to U.K.), you would dial the discount prefix 1051 + 0044 + the mobile-phone prefix without the zero + the call number. For all calls within Spain, you just need to dial 1052 and the number you wish to reach. You also have the option to automatically pre-set the discount prefixes.

This saves you having to dial the discount prefix prior to each individual call, and you can be sure that no one in your family forgets to dial the affordable prefix.

I am still registered with another telephone company – do I have to cancel my subscription there?

As a rule, it is always recommendable to issue a written notice of termination with the request for confirmation of the cancellation of your subscription. Even if you no longer select the discount prefix offered by your previous telephone company, you still remain a registered subscriber. If, for instance, when you move, you receive a new telephone number and your old number is passed on to another person by Telefónica, it is indeed possible that this person can make calls at your expense.

If you are a subscriber at a company which also offers the discount prefixes 1052 or 1051, as does UK TELECOM, we will take care of terminating your subscription for you.

Of course, we will also assist you if you are a subscriber with a telephone company which works with other prefixes.

Is it possible to view my bills online?

You can retrieve your bills from the past 12 months (along with the charges from the same period) conveniently and easily.
To enable initial access to your personal data, you only need to obtain a username and password from our subscribers' service.

When you log in for the first time, you can change your username and password. This enables you to keep track of your bills and latest charges at any time.

I have referred a new subscriber – when do I receive a credit?

For each new subscriber you introduce you receive a 5-EURO credit to your bill. This credit becomes due when the new subscriber has made calls worth 10 EUROS. This credit on your bill is shown in the section "Bill Details".
